Bishop’s Castle is a small market town in Shropshire, 22 miles south-west of Shrewsbury, and within 2 miles of the Welsh border. It grew up around a Norman castle built by a bishop of Hereford and received a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth I in 1573.
